Knock It Off Michigan!

Published February 6, 2019 by Angela

Enough is enough! 6 days of schools and businesses closed, 2 days back, and send the ice storm. No school today, and ice storm number 2 is coming tonight…so no school tomorrow.

I got a kid with serious cabin fever, and I just want to be able to get to work for the next few days 😦

Have you been in the Polar Vortex, and now the second storm that is coming through? How are you passing time?

Get a Grip Michigan!

Published April 14, 2018 by Angela

It is April 14th, the middle of April, nearly a month beyond the start of Spring, and we are under a Winter Storm Warning. It is non-stop raining right now, with temperatures dropping below freezing later this afternoon, and then the freezing rain begins. They are predicting up to an inch of ice by tomorrow 😦 Which for myself means, as soon as it starts freezing, I am not leaving the house.

I am really hoping we do not lose power, but flashlights and batteries are good to go. I thought by now I would be cleaning up the leaves out of my yard and planting new flowers and shrubs.

After 11 weeks of being in my house with a broken ankle, I am well beyond ready for some sunshine, and warm, fresh air! In the meantime, I have a blanket I need to finish crocheting, a book to finish reading, and a paint-by-number that hasn’t had any attention in a couple weeks!

Some of my favorite flower photos! Has Spring sprung for you yet?

The First Day Of Winter In West Michigan!

Published December 21, 2014 by Angela

I was certainly expecting some snow by the first day of Winter in West Michigan, considering right after Halloween we had a week of horrible storms, several inches of snow, and enough Blizzards that schools and businesses were closed.

So I was up early, as usual, and since I have not been out lately to get any pictures, I figured it would be a good day to go see what I could find.

It was freezing cold out, literally at 32 degrees F, and I am pretty sure I destroyed one of my favorite pairs of shoes when I was looking through the lens, and not at the water, and the waves nearly knocked me off my feet when they came roaring in well above my ankles.

I will definitely be wearing the rain boots the next time I venture out this Winter. Once the snow is significant enough, the roads down at the lake are all closed and I will not be able to get anywhere near it. There are definitely both ups, and downs, about living less than 10 minutes from Lake Michigan.

The water is colder than you could even imagine!

Hoping your Sunday is warm, and full of Blessings and Happiness! I plan on doing not a whole lot more than reading 🙂

Why Not? Let’s Have Another Snow Day!

Published January 28, 2014 by Angela

ImageIt’s pretty bad when they can only show 1 warning at a time!

School is closed by 6pm for tomorrow. Wind chill warnings and non-stop snow until at least Wednesday. Warned by police to stay off the roads unless necessary, I am sure my employer will find my attendance at work necessary 🙂 It is becoming difficult to find things for my girls to do that keep them quiet during the day while I need to sleep. They are burning up their laptop and the Wii, but have been getting along rather well. I fear the number of days they may have to go to school into their summer vacation due to this cold snap that seems like it will never end.

OK, let’s be honest, them going to school through the summer would honestly make me happy 🙂 There, I said it!

I know the feeling!

I know the feeling!

Even my online classes are having connection difficulties! We are hunkered down, taking it a day at a time. I stop to the store each morning buying what I think we may need to get through a couple days if we end up completely stuck in the house. The worst is yet to come, so I need to be prepared.

Yes, I think 3 gallons of milk in the fridge is enough (actually, I ran out of room). I guess I could buy more and keep it in my snow bank! My girls are tearing up the latest boxes of cereal I bought, therefore the fear of a personal milk shortage.

What are you doing to keep yourself and your children busy when it’s too cold to leave the house?
